- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash and core the apples, leaving the bottoms intact.
- Brush apples with lemon juice.
- Mix oats, walnuts, raisins, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Fill each apple with the oat mixture.
- Place apples in a baking dish.
- Pour water into the bottom of the dish.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until tender.
- Cool for 5 minutes.
- Add optional toppings if desired.
- Serve warm.
