  • 4 large apples
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Filling
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • For Baking
  • ½ cup water
  • Optional Toppings
  • Greek yogurt
  • Extra chopped walnuts
  • Cinnamon sprinkle

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash and core the apples, leaving the bottoms intact.
  3. Brush apples with lemon juice.
  4. Mix oats, walnuts, raisins, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Fill each apple with the oat mixture.
  6. Place apples in a baking dish.
  7. Pour water into the bottom of the dish.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes until tender.
  9. Cool for 5 minutes.
  10. Add optional toppings if desired.
  11. Serve warm.

Notes

Choose naturally sweet apples to get the best flavor without needing added sugar. Be careful not to overbake them, as this can make the apples mushy instead of tender. You can add chopped dates for extra natural sweetness and a richer taste. Serve them warm for the best texture and most comforting experience. Greek yogurt can be added for extra protein and a creamy finish. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator to keep them fresh.
